I have a random interest in those genealogical shows that highlight some celebrity finding out about their family history. I like them when I know who the celebrity is. I like them when I don’t know. There are a bunch of old episodes of some of them on YouTube, and from time to time, I deep dive on them, discovering what life was like in a workhouse in the 1830s or the details of someone’s Italian ancestor’s brush with the mob. In the midst, I find that I learn more about the lives of people in eras and places I don’t know, so perhaps it’s not all a lost cause.

5 Ways to Reduce Stress During Anxious Days
Ann Voskamp considers how to counter anxiety.
- As I fed our little flock of sheep this morning, as I piled and fluffed the hay and they calmly chewed, as I carried the buckets of grain and our ewes and one fine ram ate and deeply drank, I kept thinking of the ways of the Good Shepherd’s own little flock calmly lives into the spacious, non-anxious presence of God and these 5 gentle movements of grace to reduce stress during any anxious days:

Be Perfect
Ross Byrd considers Christ’s command.
- When I was a kid, I remember getting excited any time I came across something in the Bible I actually understood. It was like a buried treasure unearthed. Pie: A Tale Full of Sweet Inspiration
Rebecca LeVake introduces a lovely book wrapped up in a little title.
- I have never really appreciated pie the way I should. But it is not entirely my fault. I wasn’t exposed to great pie making as a kid. My mom wasn’t into pie, and my grandmother, who, I am told, was a great pie maker in her day, grew a tad lazy in her later years. My memory is that she’d take a premade shell, fill it with instant chocolate pudding, slather it with Cool Whip, and call that Chocolate Cream Pie. If that was pie, I was not impressed.
