The Warren & The World Vol 13, Issue 38

Friends,

We come to you today with Big News—News of Great Importance, as we must honor Someone of Praiseworthy Faithfulness.

Our Warren & the World editor, Carrie Givens, has been bringing you and thousands of other readers Most Excellent Content for well over a decade now. Carrie took the helm of The Warren and the World when it was still just an infant. She has steered us through the last ten years with great aplomb…and I am running out of boating metaphors.

Today is Carrie’s final issue of The Warren and the World, and next week I will attempt to step into her very capable shoes.

Carrie and I sat down last week for a “handoff lunch,” and I was reminded once again why we are friends. In the span of just over an hour, we covered baseball, Middlemarch, church life, work dynamics, which podcast app is the most helpful, and our conflicted relationship with protein. We also made time for talking about serving you, our readers, well.

Carrie works full-time at a local church here in Charlotte, and she is also the CEO of Bandersnatch Books, which brings you such excellence as The Song of the Stone Tiger and the upcoming I’ve Got a Bad Case of Poetry. We at Story Warren are flummoxed at how Carrie gets everything done, but she does a lot of things very well. We’re exceedingly grateful for her time serving us, and we plan to keep you in the loop on all the wonderful things Bandersnatch is doing.

Three cheers for Carrie!
-Kelly Keller

Aww, thanks, Kelly.

Our lunch also included discussion of complicated house repairs and copious amounts of French fries, so I feel like it was a win all around.

When I chatted with Andrew Mackay (Story Warren’s publisher) for our recent Banderpod episode, I told him that prepping The Warren & the World has been such a fun way to support something I believe in—Story Warren—without it taking too much of my capacity.

That said, all you consistent readers know that I’ve missed the email more than once in the busyness of life, and your ongoing grace is appreciated. I’m so excited for the next chapter of Story Warren newsletters and look forward to being involved at Story Warren from time to time as they let me!
