I brought home a bookshelf that I had at the office because it was not being used there and piles of books have been forming at my house. I just added it to my wall of bookshelves. Things are now slightly off center, but I’m okay with that—or I will be as soon as I balance it—and there is about six more feet of shelf space awaiting fulfillment. That’s a delightful thought.

Accidentally Raising Readers
Melissa Woodruff shares about her unintentional creation of book lovers in her home.
- As a parent, I have always desired to instill good and healthy habits in my children. I want them to have better habits than me. I want them to make better choices than me. I have invested so much time and energy in so many different areas to get them on board with these good habits and choices. I buy them bright-colored water bottles, hoping they will drink more water if they love them. I buy and make food with better quality ingredients hoping to give them healthier options and higher standards when they’re older and can make more of their own food choices. We take our kids to church and study the Bible with them as part of their homeschool day. We talk through all of the emotions and how to regulate and process them. I work so hard to do all of these things with the simple hope that some of it just might stick in the long run.

We Are Walking on Holy Ground
Melissa at Your Mom Has a Blog ponders what it means to walk with God.
- A few weeks ago, my firstborn sang a solo at her church. During the school year, she attends church in the far away city where her university is, and it has been an adjustment for both of us. For me, church is, in part, sitting at the front with all of my little children in a row, even though my second baby towers over me now, and the third and I are currently wearing the same size shoe. It happens quickly, this growing and wing spreading, and before you know it, your pew of little children changes into a pew of gangly teenagers, and then dwindles as one by one they head out to make their way in this hard, wonderful world.

Things I Learned from Rural Living
Lara D’Entremont balances the tension of living in sometimes lonely places.
- Whenever we’ve looked for a new house, a big yard for my children always remains on my list of “non-negotiables.” Both my husband and I grew up with not only large yards but access to the forest without any houses in sight the moment we stepped out of the back door. This gave both of us a life of exploring nature and learning about the creatures and plants that lived around us. We learned how to walk through the woods without getting lost, what berries and plants are safe to eat, and how to respect the wildlife that hid in the shadows or crossed our paths.
