Story Warren Weekend, Vol. 14, Issue 37

Hello friends,
Welcome to October. Whether it’s for fall food, pumpkin decor, fall sports, or the changing leaves, this month seems to be a popular one. Let’s not forget S. D. Smith’s continuing quest to find out what women on the internet and/or Anne of Green Gables thinks about October. We hope he can get to the bottom of this mystery soon.

Around the Web
Here’s a wide-ranging conversation about all things bookish, between Carolyn Givens of Bandersnatch Books and David Kern of Close Reads and Goldberry Books.
The Mercy of God When Formulas Fail. Kristen Black discusses her struggle with anxiety and depression for most of her life, and the church’s misguided need to give formulas for relief sometimes. “What happens when the formulas don’t work; when the fruit we are hoping to see doesn’t grow? How do we counsel someone when worry and fear remain a battleground of the mind, despite vigilant efforts to instruct the mind into submission? What happens when the praise that used to come so easily now requires discipline, and that discipline does not lift the heavy heart?”

Around the Warren
On Monday we celebrated (a little early) the release of The Lost Cause, the final book in the Lost Tales trilogy. Tuesday was release day, and now the new book, plus all of our new merch is available for you to peruse in our store. We are happy to help with any questions you may have about the new stuff—reach out to our team at orders@storywarren.com.
This week we also recognized our first-ever Ally in Imagination award winner. You can read more about our winner, Tiffany, and her deserving efforts in Wednesday’s post. We are always on the hunt for more Allies to recognize, so please nominate your people if they fit the bill! Find more information about this award right here.
Something to do with your kids
You’re not too late to join in on the fun at Inktober. I have several friends who do this challenge every year, and they share their attempts/successes on social media. Give it a whirl!
