Congratulations: Our First Ally in Imagination

Back in the summer, we introduced our new initiative to recognize those in your communities who are everyday Allies in Imagination. Whether they are parents, teachers, librarians, neighbors, or volunteers, these heroes walk among us! And we’re grateful for your help in identifying them.

At Story Warren we understand the glorious, gritty work of teachers, librarians, co-op leaders, and others who love, teach, and read to kids every single day. They lift kids up by inspiring them with great stories. Many of these people have put The Green Ember and stories like it into little hands more times than they can count.

Today we’re thrilled to introduce our very first winner of the Ally in Imagination Award. Tiffany S. serves as head librarian at Matthews Christian Library in Matthews, North Carolina.

Hear from local mom, Leigh Anne, on the gift Tiffany is to her community:

Tiffany has been dedicated to the Matthews Christian Library for a decade, thoughtfully curating a safe place for Christian families to bring their children. She knows the ends and outs of every section and is quick to recommend a book that might become a family favorite (we can attest)! When we had to move to a volunteer-run program last year, Tiffany didn’t skip a beat. She still volunteers every afternoon at the Library!

She is very personable and makes it a point to know each family, and she quickly can pick up on your flavor of books! My teenager is a ferocious reader and having Tiffany’s knowledge of the book collections saves me a lot of time pre-reading stories, that alone is worth its weight in gold! Whatever Tiffany does she is always thinking for the patrons and creating a welcoming space for children to fall in love with good stories. We are so grateful for her continual sacrifice and commitment to the Library as we navigate changes. She’s such a blessing to many mothers and homeschooling families in our community and it wouldn’t be MCL without her thoughtful touch.

Congrats, Tiffany! We’re thankful for your role in encouraging holy imagination!

Kelly Keller is the managing editor of Story Warren. She has her BS in Elementary Education from Messiah University and has taught various ages, but her favorite was worldview and literature with high school students. The “gap” in her resume is actually a window of eighteen years of homeschooling, which she recommends as an effective, though demanding, way of expanding one’s home library.

When she’s not behind her laptop, Kelly enjoys live music, baseball, reading great books, and traveling with her husband, David. Kelly hails from beautiful snowy New England, but after two decades in North Carolina, she feels right at home.
