Story Warren Weekend, Vol. 14, Issue 23

Happy West Virginia Day!

Today is the anniversary of the admission of West Virginia as a state in 1863. We here at Story Warren have our home base in West Virginia, even though a few of us are scattered across the country. You can read more about S. D Smith’s heart for West Virginia in one of our links below.

Growing Givers, Not Poor Unfortunate Victims. This link from a few years back talks about the HopeWords Conference in West Virginia. S. D. Smith says more about his heart for his home state. “Most of the time people think of Appalachia in general, and West Virginia in particular, as a place where anyone who can leave does leave. They see it as a place of need where kind people go to help the poor, unfortunate souls stuck here.”

Who Does the Kingdom of God Belong To? “It is unsurprising, in their context, that the disciples rebuke those who are bringing children to Jesus; what is shocking is Jesus’s hospitality for these children.”
