Story Warren Weekend, Vol. 14, Issue 16

Hi there,

It’s May, and if tradition holds, your calendar is getting full. In my family we’ve got a graduation coming up, plus Mother’s Day, trips out of town, preparation for recitals and finals, and all the rest. The garden is gathering weeds but it will have to wait!

In case you missed them, our very own S. D. Smith made the rounds on a few podcasts. You can listen here to the Nat Theo podcast, where you’ll hear Sam explain his complicated real-life relationship to rabbits (without swords). Then head toThe Banderpod, where you’ll hear host Carolyn Clare Givens and Sam delight in obscure vocabulary and discuss the new book.

The folks at Redeemed Reader had a “Back Porch Chat” with Daniel Nayeri about food, favorite books, and which animal he’d be. “They’re the best fighters and a few of them are delightfully unhinged.”

Contributor Jessica Burke ruminates on the Curious George series as a lesson in dependence and love. “When my toddlers—even my teens—sin, they need to know that their sin doesn’t change my love for them. Both when I’m correcting and when everything seems to be going as it should, it is good for me to tell my kids that what they do doesn’t affect how I love them.”

We have our April Mended Wood giveaway up and running at the moment—but don’t wait too long to enter! This one closes Monday night. Check out the full list of selections right here. You can enter either on social media or in the comments on the site.
