In these early months of 2013, when I’m not busy booking concerts, I’m working on songs for the new Slugs & Bugs CD. If you haven’t heard, almost all of the lyrics will come straight from scripture. I’ve used many suggestions from people out there in internet land and if you have one, don’t hesitate to send it to me!
I’m using a few different translations, sometimes combining translations in the same song, so I’m thinking of calling my amalgamation the MSV. That is, the Most Singable Version.
Meanwhile, I’ve got at least one song that (almost) all of the translations can agree on, and today I’m going to share the joy. Introducing the new Slugs & Bugs song “That’s the Old Testament,” performed admirably by the Goodgame family (careful viewers can even find Mrs. Goodgame somewhere in the picture). Tune in soon for the Slugs & Bugs New Testament Song!

I love the song, Randall! I found Mrs. Goodgame too. 🙂 Happy day to all of you!

This has the hearty approval of my three-year-old Slugs & Bugs fan, and the 18-month old is saying “watch again,” so that’s a good sign.

Best OT-books song I’ve ever heard! My son, Levi, was honored to meet those adorable kids at the Hutchmoot closing last fall, so it was fun for him to see them in the video. We are looking forward to the new album. Also, I thought I’d throw out a few OT Scriptures that don’t get much attention. All of these came from the NLT One-Year Bible, which became the Three-Year Bible in our house. 🙂
2 Sam. 14:14 (The wise woman from Tekoa who said some very wise words) “But God does not just sweep life away; instead, he devises ways to bring us back when we have been separated from him.”
Habakkuk 2:18 “What good is an idol…a god that can’t even talk!” (My kids always laugh at these kinds of verses. I think they like seeing how foolish grown-ups can be.)
Haggai 2:19 “I am giving you a promise while the seed is still in the barn.” (Silo, silo, storing all the seed. Ha! What is it about that tractor song? Never, ever leaves me!)
