Hi there and happy weekend!

Tomorrow marks the final match of the World Cup, at which time we’ll wait another four years until the next. We’ve really enjoyed the energy surrounding the competition this time. It has been nice to see the US extend hospitality to fans from around the world.

A good reminder here: You Can Conform to Christ Even if You Don’t Conform to Me. “We are to live the Christian faith in light of the setting we inhabit, in light of our theological understanding, and in light of the development of our conscience, not someone else’s. And this means that what is sinful to one person may be God-honoring to another, and vice versa.”

Play Before the Throne. “Play thrives in the presence of a happy Father, whose love is freely given and cannot be earned. It demonstrates that we put our hope not in work or wealth, “but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy” (1 Timothy 6:17).”

   

   

   

   

   

   

   

Around the Warren

This week we wrapped up a reminder of the place of poetry in The Lazy, Hazy Days of Summer. This post gets specific! There are suggestions for poems to share and discussion questions. “Lazing around on a porch swing with a child and few poems sounds nice for a Sunday afternoon. I am partial to a pancake breakfast with a few shared poems read around the table.”

Contributor Christine Norvell brought us a review of the new kids’ biography on poet Phillis Wheatley. “Throughout her narrative, Ellis is keen to point to Christ and the legacy He was building in and through Phillis Wheatley. As a teacher and parent, I found this Crossway biography thoughtful, inspiring, and full of hope.”
