What to do With Feelings That Are Meant to Be Felt, Not Fixed
Jennie Allen explores how we can wrestle with feelings.
- When our oldest son, Conner, was two years old, soon after his baby sister arrived, I decided we needed an outing.
So, we loaded up the car and went to the mall with my mom and sister. Somehow in the giant Dallas mall, Conner disappeared.
He was wearing a bright-orange shirt and had striking sun-bleached blond hair, yet he just vanished from everyone’s sight. An hour passed, and I had to make the most difficult call of my life to tell my husband that our son could not be found.

Why Didn’t You Tell Me?
Tim Challies discusses how we can share what’s true with those who do not yet understand.
- If you have spent any time at all on YouTube, you have probably seen videos of people hearing for the first time or people seeing color for the first time—videos of people who, through the miracles of modern science, have senses restored that had either been missing altogether or that had become dull through illness or accidents. It is hard not to be moved as a child hears her mother’s voice for the first time or to be thrilled as a man gets his first glimpse of the world in color.

Kathryn Butler presents a reflection and writing prompt for your young writers.
- Great writing requires a keen eye. To draw a reader into our inner world, we need to provide sensory details to make the imagery come alive. For the Christian, a keen eye also helps us perceive God’s goodness and presence in the everyday.

Review: God Speaks to Me
Carolyn Leiloglou reviews a new board book.
- I’ve always loved Psalm 19:1, “The heavens declare the glory of God: the skies proclaim the work of his hand.” The idea that God speaks to us through his creation is evident the more time you spend in nature. And children, naturally curious about the world they are just discovering, are often more sensitive to this fact than busy adults.

Mysterious Benedict Society
The Mysterious Benedict Society is an enjoyable, engaging book (and equally great, though sadly cancelled show!) by Trenton Lee Stewart. Four seemingly ordinary children are selected to join a secret mission to stop a secret enemy, and quickly find out that singularly they are brilliant, but collectively they are unstoppable! I love this story because it teases your brain, keeps you on the edge of your seat, and invites you into this adventure.
The Green Ember
Another great series starter is The Green Ember from Story Warren Publishing! The Green Ember is a riveting tale of hope, loyalty, courage, family, and adventure. Heather and Picket are rabbit siblings who are thrust into a world of war and danger when their family is captured by evil wolves. I love the way these stories have shaped my childhood when my dad told them to me and my brother, and I love how they have blessed so many readers and families since then. Give it a read if you haven’t yet, or recommend it to a friend if you have!
Something to Do with Your Kids
This little guy is adorable. Origami folding was one of my favorite crafts as a kid, and I wish I’d known how to make this fox!
