Author: Kristen Usher

Kristen Usher resides in that particular suburb of Washington, DC also known as Virginia. In that fine Commonwealth, she is raising two delightfully red-headed children alongside her also red-headed husband. She gets paid to research and evaluate educational programs because she has not yet found a way to get paid for curling up with a book under a blanket while waiting for the coffee to brew. As a child, she had reading races with her twin sister Laura and would nearly always lose. But she was not deterred and continues to read slightly fewer books than her sister to this day. Kristen loves the Church, wildflowers, running hugs, the quiet of libraries and firm, creaking rocking chairs. She will choose a good conversation over just about anything else.

    The King Has Arrived

I adore Christmas. I love everything about the Christmas season – the anticipation of Advent, the smells of holiday baking, the twinkle lights cutting through the darkness, and the music; oh the music! In a year devoid of many traditional markers, I’m already mourning the loss of many of my favorite Christmas activities. But there will still be music. I’ve queued up Spotify playlists, dug old cds out of the corners of my car, and dusted off some of my grandfather’s old Christmas classics to play on our record player.
