A Heart for Ukraine

Hello S. D. Smith,

I have loved your books since we first discovered them after Ember Falls came out and we read them aloud as a family.

They now hold a wonderful sense of nostalgia for me that takes me straight back to 12 years old.

My family and I are in Ukraine right now visiting dear friends and family here, as well as the orphanage my adopted sisters grew up in.

We have friends here fighting in the war, one of whom took leave to spend the week with us. Hearing the sirens in the city, hearing the stories he tells us first-hand, sharing meals with him before he goes back- all have made this war even more real to me, rather than just news from across the world.

I can’t tell you how much it means that your amazing stories are being translated to Ukrainian- I will be waiting (impatiently!) to get a copy!

Praise God that He is our hope and He is always good.

She has her BS in Elementary Education from Messiah University and has taught various ages, but her favorite was worldview and literature with high school students.
