Zach Franzen was a kid just like everyone else, only with more Zs in his name than most (2). One day, in seventh grade, a kid began pelting him with pencil bits. Zach heeled on the offender and let fly his pen. The pen turned once in the air, then stuck in the offender’s forehead. True story. An onlooker, desiring to confirm what he witnessed, repeated twice, “It stuck in his head.” These days Mr. Franzen seeks to use the pen, pencil, or brush to create images. Hopefully, these images might have force enough to stick in the heads of those who see them. Zach is an illustrator, living with his wife in Greenville, South Carolina.
