An Invitation to Rest. “ As I described how amazing turtles can be and how calming and wonderful my day was, the words out of my mouth began to slow. I could hear how I sounded and I began to cry tears of embarrassment. I felt unworthy because I wasn’t producing or achieving anything seemingly worthwhile.”

How to Raise Curious Kids in a World Designed to Distract Them.“Home can be the place where children learn that curiosity is not disruptive; it is valuable. That their questions are not annoying, they are intelligent. That changing your mind is not weakness, it is growth.”

On Monday we got to sit in on a wonderful conversation between two of our favorite illustrators: Zach Franzen and Joe Sutphin. In recognition of the birthday of Richard Adams, Zach talked with Joe about creating the graphic novel version of Adams’ masterwork, Watership Down. “They are stories with simple core ideas such as faith, hope and love, friendship and community and even the processes of redemption and growth of personal character. These are timeless themes that will always matter, no matter the current trend.”

Later in the week we gave you our Summer Reading Tracker to chart all the amazing reading progress your kids make this summer! You can download it and print off as many as you’d like. Go here to get yours!
